HSE Specialist
ROLE SUMMARY:
To manage and administer systems which support the companies in delivering HSE compliance, deliver professional advice and support to enable the businesses to effectively manage and promote all aspects of HSE. This varied role involves an array of tasks such as research, information analysis and writing deliverables and proposals on greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting services and climate change mitigation solutions, plus opportunities to work on specific on-site projects. This can be a development opportunity for the right candidate into the broader Environmental Social Governance (ESG) agenda
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The key purpose of this role is to support the ABFI Safety, Risk & Sustainability as well as the divisional HSE & Sustainability communities with the implementation of international, regional, and local projects across all ABFI businesses The role will also support the integration of ESG across the Division.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibilities of this role are:

To create an effective communication programme for releasing updated tools and policies across businesses

To ensure HSE teams have the necessary information and professional advice to enable them to deliver HSE compliance and appropriate mitigation and control strategies within their functional and geographic areas of accountability

To liaise with different business functions to ensure divisional level data-gathering systems are effective and robust

To lead the development of robust targets and metrics that will drive HSE improvements within the organisation

To develop and improve the collection, analysis and reporting of HSE performance and compliance (internally and externally); ensuring consolidation of complex datasets from our global operating sites

To lead monthly and yearly HSE reporting within the division by liaising with various stakeholders to ensure completeness and accuracy

To act as a central point of contact for all HSE KPIs, supporting business decisions and all internal & external reporting frameworks

To serve as a connector between business functions to document and share best practices and initiatives relating to Health, Safety & Environmental topics

To work with key stakeholders to integrate leading and lagging indicators into divisional level Environmental Social Governance (ESG scorecard)

To support local internal and external communication networks and build working relationships to ensure that employees are involved and engaged with all aspects of HSE, and the site’s Licence to Operate is protected

To promote and champion key initiatives to improve HSE performance across the site

To manage and evaluate various elements of environmental sustainability data collection and reporting (e.g., GHG Scopes 1, 2 ,3, waste, and water). Monitor, track, and report key sustainability data/metrics/ performance indicators. Occasionally, some projects might extend to additional corporate sustainability topics such as climate change mitigation, Science Based Targets (SBTs), and materiality assessment

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Must have

1-3 years of experience working in an HSE role

NEBOSH health & safety Diploma
- IEMA qualified
Ideally
-
A knowledge of sustainability initiatives such as carbon accounting, circular economy, waste (this can be a development opportunity for the right candidate)
